Andrew Dines ~ American Two Yurt Guide 2007
My summer on the Two-Yurt River was nothing less than incredible.  As a guide who grew tired of fighting the crowds and fishing with beads in Alaska, Kamchatka is a dream come true.  I didn´t see a single soul all season that wasn´t part of our operation.  The Two-Yurt Valley is beautiful and probably as remote as I will ever again be in my life.  The Two-Yurt is the perfect size for a trout stream.  It is big enough to re-discover every week, but small enough for the typical angler to read and manage.  Over the course of the week, you follow the river as it changes character again and again. By the end of the week you feel as though you have fished a variety of rivers.  The fact that the river is full of wild, native Rainbows eager to devour a skated mouse pattern or a swinging streamer probably doesn´t hurt its appeal.  On good days, the fishing it better than anything I have experienced elsewhere.  Even a slow day would be a great day on most rivers I know.  Overall, I believe that Kamchatka represents a wilderness fishing experience that cannot be matched.  The price of this unique experience is a bit longer journey than to Alaska and weather-dependent helicopters.  It is a small price to pay to find yourself standing dazed in the Two-Yurt River, too tired to fight another fish and not caring because you lost count hours ago.

Erik Argotti ~ American Ozernaya Guide 2007
When I think back to my summer on the Ozernaya River in Kamchatka there are two things that instantly come to my mind, “Mice and remote”.  I have fished many different trout rivers all good in their own rights, but I have never fished in a place where a fish will come up so readily for a skated mouse on the surface. It was like fishing a small Montana river in the summer and using a dry fly, except on the Ozernaya you can do the same with a mouse. The Rainbows will sip it just like they do those dry flies in Montana, except everything is just magnified.  Instead of using a small Adams for a 16” fish you are using a size 4 mouse for a 23” Rainbow.  It is simply amazing.

The other thing that was also very special about this river was the total lack of other people. When we would head down river for a day of fishing, I knew there would not be anyone else around and that I could guide out my day exactly how I wanted and where I wanted, without any interruptions by other lodges or outfits - the river was ours.  Having worked in Alaska for six years prior to this season, you kind of get used to the people at places like the Moraine, Brooks and the American River and you just have to get up earlier or deal with it. You also just get used to the Beavers and Cessena’s flying over head constantly. In Kamchatka you do not have to accept other people as part of your fishing vacation. Except for the very rare helicopter flying by, there is just a total lack of any other people, it is a true wilderness. The sound of the river and your own thoughts are all you have, and of course the sound of a giant Bow peeling out line from your drag, this is a disturbance that is quite readily accepted.
