We are ecstatic to announce there will be direct flight service to Kamchatka during the summer of 2008. We will once again enjoy a quick and easy flight to the best Rainbow Trout fishing on the planet. Vladivostok Air has announced with 100% certainty they are assuming the route from Anchorage to Petropavlovsk, Kamchatka.
The official released flight schedule is as follows. Flight #XF712 will depart from Anchorage on Monday mornings at 7:45 am (with arrival in Kamchatka at 9:45 am). After a great week of fishing you will arrive back in Anchorage the following Monday morning at 5:45 am on Flight #XF711. This early arrival back to the States allows plenty of time to clear US customs and immigration to connect up with your flight home. We have over 10 years of experience working with this schedule and know it is extraordinarily convenient.
You might be saying, “We have heard some of this before. What sets Vladivostok Air apart from the other air carriers that have announced intentions over the past two years?” Something major indeed, Vladivostok Air has created an entirely new market of passengers to help fill the airplane from Anchorage to Petropavlovsk. No other airline has taken this kind of aggressive approach to ensure the success of the route. Since 1999 Vladivostok Air has serviced weekly charter flights from Japan to Kamchatka during the summer months. This year they are taking this service to a whole new level by including Alaska in their packages and transforming the route from charter to scheduled commercial.
We can tell you this…we are in good hands with Vladivostok Air. Last year we used their service when we flew our guests through Seoul. We know from experience how they run their operation and we have good news to report. Flights were consistently on time and they did not lose a single piece of luggage all season long.
We will again be relying upon Red Star Travel to handle our travel logistics. They have done a wonderful job in the past and we are confident they will continue to take great care of our guests. Over the years we have found it is best to centralize all ticketing, visa, invitation and insurance processes. Red Star Travel can be reached at www.travel2russia.com.
Once on Kamchatka you will travel by Mi-8 which was first put into production in late 1965 and is considered the most reliable and safe commercial helicopter ever made. With twin turbine engines designed for a capacity of 24 anglers and gear, there is no better view of the peninsula. Boasting an impressive 8,820 pound payload, a cruising speed of over 100 mph, and a ceiling of more than 16,000 feet, all of Kamchatka relies on this dependable aircraft. The Aviation Board issues flight clearances and keeps a strict watch on all of the commercial aviation companies ensuring you a safe flight schedule. With a considerable operational range of 360 miles, the MI-8 is designed to take you to areas completely inaccessible by road. Like any remote wilderness area, weather delays are possible although they are rare. |
